A golden theme of the evening witnessed another captivating Annual General body meeting of IEEE Kerala Section. The ambience of Bolgatty palace proved to be ideal for the advent. The event commenced with a call to order and self-introduction. The Welcome Address was given by Dr. Sameer SM, Vice Chair, IEEE Kerala Section.The spirits of conventionalities was held high with the IEEE Code of Ethics.
The annual report was presented by Ms.Sarada JK, Secretary, IEEE Kerala Section where she highlighted on Kerala Section having more than1000 events which surpassed the previous year record by 30 percent, hosted nine International conferences including ISTAS 2016 and eight technically co-sponsored conferences, along with a new internship program for the student members.
The treasurer, Mr.Jithin Krishnan, shared the financial report, which was passed by the members of the AGM. The section also highlighted on the remarkable increase in the number of IEEE members during 2016.
The Awards Committee Chair, Mr.Amarnath Raja, after providing an introduction to the Awards process, handed over the compering of the announcement to Mr. Vijay S Paul. Amicable among the declared awards were: the IEEE – KPP Nambiar Memorial Award 2016 presented to Prof. RVG Menon, Friend of IEEE (Public Service) presented to Mr. M Sivasankar IAS, Friend of IEEE (Academia) presented to Dr. KG Nair, Best Teacher presented to Prof. B Premlet, IEEE Kerala Section Outstanding Volunteer Award, presented to Mr.Ranjit R Nair and the Outstanding Student Volunteer Award, which was shared by Mr. Joseph Joshy and Ms.Ansu Joseph. The Nomination Committee Chair declared the Elected Office Bearers for 2017 with Dr.K.R.Suresh Nair and Dr.Sameer S M continuing as the Section Chair and Vice Chair respectively, Ms.Bijuna Kunju as the Secretary and Ms.Jyothi Ramaswamy as the Treasurer.
The newly elected chair addressed the inquisitive gathering and held a general discussion on the future activities. The newly elected Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. The cultural programs held later on engrossed the audience to the core and with the IEEE Joy of Volunteering still prevailing in the night air, the spectators dispersed for dinner.
